The Application of Modern Training Complexes for Persons with Risk Factors for Cardio-Vascular Disorders

The study featured 236 males and 33 females with risk factors for cardio-vascular disorders, who underwent a 3-week-long sanatorium-resort treatment. The patients were divided into two groups: the primary group (n = 194) and the comparison group (n = 75). The comparison group patients received traditional treatment (diet, physiotherapy, climate-, phyto-, and balneotherapy). The primary group patients were prescribed an optimized therapeutic complex that included, in addition to traditional therapy, the application of the “Kardiomed” training system. All the patients, on admission to and before discharge from the sanatorium, had the anthropometric and hemodynamic parameters controlled and the indicators of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism examined. As a result of the therapy, the primary group patients demonstrated a considerable improvement in all the indicators: a 6% decrease in abdominal adiposity, a 7.5% decrease in average daily systolic arterial blood pressure, a 24.2% decrease in the atherogenic index, and a 16.4% decrease in glycated hemoglobin. In the comparison group patients, the above indicators improved to a lesser degree.

The study examined 125 sanatorium patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. The primary group received integrated sanatorium-resort treatment with the inclusion of personalized physical activity with its intensity dosed to the heart rate, while the comparison group received similar treatment without the personalization of physical therapy. After 3 weeks of treatment, the primary group patients demonstrated the more marked positive effect from the treatment, which was substantiated by clinical and laboratory data, which attests to the positive effect of the proposed methodology on the carbohydrate metabolism of patients with diabetes mellitus.

It helps keep track, over a minimal period of time (1-2 minutes), of changes taking place in the athlete at major international competitions.

The Model Characteristics of Physical Fitness in CrossFit
Abstract:
The aim of the study is to work out the model characteristics of the physical fitness of CrossFit athletes based on laboratory functional testing (n=10). The analysis of the body composition was conducted using the dual-energy absorptiometry method. The morpho-functional characteristics of the heart were explored using a high-resolution ultrasound scanner. Oxygen consumption at the aerobic-anaerobic threshold and maximum oxygen consumption were determined in a step test on arm and leg cycle ergometers using a gas-analyzer. The level of the physical fitness of leg muscles in the males and females who took part in the study was satisfactory. However, it was considerably higher than the norm for untrained people. The level of the physical fitness of arm muscles was higher than the average and matched the Master of Sport of International Class standards. The productivity of the cardio-vascular system was much higher than in healthy males and females who do not work out and comparable to the standards for advanced soccer players.

The article examines the organization of rehabilitation activities at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The author analyzes the structure of the incidence of outpatient visits to physiotherapeutic facilities during the Olympics. There were conducted 1609 physiotherapy procedures associated with injuries sustained in various sites; most often, the patients were prescribed instrumental physiotherapy, manual therapy, and massage, as well as Kinesio Taping.

The Results of Applying Chondroprotectors in the Integrated Rehabilitation Treatment of Athletes with Post-Traumatic Patellar Chondropathy

This study has investigated the effect of chondroitin sulfate on the course of post-traumatic patellar chondropathy in 60 athletes. It has been established that the application of chondroprotective therapy in the integrated rehabilitation treatment of athletes with post-traumatic chondropathy reduces the pain syndrome and improves the functional condition of knee joints and facilitates boosting one’s sports activity and improving one’s quality of life, based on the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) questionnaire data.

Dynamic Studies into Heart Rate Variability in Beach Volleyball Players during the Period of Preparation for Major Fixtures

This study examined 6 beach volleyball players during the period of pre-competition preparation. The study of the regulation of the heart rate during athletes’ preparation for second-leg fixtures revealed that with the time for the contest drawing nearer athletes demonstrate a stronger sympathetic activity of the autonomous system of regulation against the background of a decrease in the level of stress. The increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system serves as a sign of an adequate adaptive response on the part of players, which enables them to mobilize and provide their body with all necessary energy resources.

In athletes who train 5-6 times per week 2-3 times or more per day, the heart gets under physical stress more often than in non-athletes – therefore, examining them at rest cannot provide a full-scale picture of the heart’s operation. The article describes a methodology of echocardiography with graduated training load, which helps explore the condition of hemodynamics in athletes when they are engaged in doing habitual work.

The intensification of sports training has come to be viewed as the only way to achieve success. In the event of long training sessions, athletes can develop a state of extreme or pathological overwork, which can be accompanied by a lack of improvement or a decline in one’s performance, the athlete entering a state of overtraining. The article examines topical issues related to the efficacy of the use of an integrated therapy consisting of physiotherapeutic methodologies in the rehabilitation correction of athletes with the overtraining syndrome. The author relies on data obtained as a result of a clinical study conducted at the premises of the Moscow Applied Research Center for Medical Rehabilitation, Recuperation, and Sports Medicine. An analysis of data obtained from the study revealed that athletes receiving integrated therapy with the use of static cardioversion and bioresonance therapy demonstrated a high percentage of positive results. The differences before and after therapy were verifiable.

Anthropometric Indicators for and the Dimensions of the Left Ventricle in Athletes

The study examined 390 athletes specializing in different sports, ages 16 to 34. The participants had their height and body weight measured, body weight index and the square area of the surface of the body calculated, had standard ECG at rest, transthoracic echocardiography, and had the weight of the myocardium of the left ventricle measured using a modified ASE formula. The study established in the athletes moderate direct correlation links between the thickness of the myocardium of the left ventricle plus the weight of the myocardium of the left ventricle and the height and weight of the body.
